All hardwood is hard, but some are tougher than others

If you have any extra durability needs, such as if you have kids, pets, or heavy foot traffic, be sure to let your retailer know. He or she will help you find the right grade and species for you.

Engineered hardwood: More stable, better able to handle water

As you know, solid wood flooring can be damaged by water, but this construction gives the same style while adding a little more practicality.

Engineered wood has a slab of genuine timber at the top, giving the floor visual appeal and design interest. There is an almost unlimited variety of species or colors.

Underneath are three or more layers of authentic timber, combined with a little resin, and then placed in a crosswise position.

As a result, it will not expand and shrink to adjust to the weather, so no acclimation is necessary.

There is also more versatility in installation areas, able to be installed in some higher-than-normal moisture places where solid cannot go.

All hardwood, solid or engineered, adds value to your home and can be refinished.

Hardwood isn’t just a purchase, it’s an investment

The flooring lasts for years if properly maintained. If it does become excessively scratched or dull, a refinishing is all it takes to bring it up to the original luster.

It adds value to a property by 1) adding 70 to 80% of the cost to your home and 2) understanding that potential buyers will often pay 2.5% more for a home with wood floors.

Hardwood never goes out of style; if you want a change of color, just have the flooring sanded and stained.
